L. Borges<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The striving of humans towards God the father is eternal. He deceives. And we believe in it. He disappears. He is restored to the heart of being, in politics. At best, one can just as well bypass it, on the condition that one make use of it<a href=\"#_edn1\" name=\"_ednref1\">[1]<\/a>. At worst, the nostalgia for patriarchy ends up generating nationalism and racism, for which the direction of feminine jouissance, \u201coutside the machinery of the Oedipus\u201d<a href=\"#_edn2\" name=\"_ednref2\">[2]<\/a> represents the paradigm. God, Father, Patriarchy, Fatherland, \u201can ocean of functions, dysfunctions, functionaries and criminals\u201d<a href=\"#_edn3\" name=\"_ednref3\">[3]<\/a>. Identity and Woke. Nation and Borders. Manipulation of Law and the lawless. Power and War. Mafia and Pope. Silence and Church. We are in the midst of dystopian productions. And <em>Blade Runner <\/em>will be obsolete, as it was already in 1982, if we think of the debt Ridley Scott owes not only to Milton and Mary Shelley, but also to Blake. From the book <em>America a Prophecy<\/em>, the poem <em>Fiery the angels rose<\/em>, transposed into <em>Fiery the angels fell<\/em>, serves as the film&#8217;s incipit. A new world: for Blake&#8217;s Puritans, America; for the Americans of the dystopia of 2019, the colonies to come. Blake inspires the Beat generation. Patti Smith sings <em>Tyger<\/em>. Allen Ginsberg reads it at a frenetic pace. And here is the tiger, an emblem of human cynicism, to whom Blake asks who had the strength to forge \u201cthy fearful symmetry?<a href=\"#_edn4\" name=\"_ednref4\">[4]<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In opposition to the propaganda of the elegant culture of Oxford and Cambridge, Blake did not participate in the rationalist dissent that went from trinitarianism to deism. Other counter-Enlightenment impulses directed him towards \u201canti-rationalism, which took the form of illumination, Masonic rituals\u201d<a href=\"#_edn5\" name=\"_ednref5\">[5]<\/a>. Atypical genius, choleric, melancholic, a mystical rebellious spirit as portrayed by Daniel Thierry<a href=\"#_edn6\" name=\"_ednref6\">[6]<\/a>, his parents realised that he would not be able to follow an ordinary school education. Opposed to capitalism and the possessiveness of marriage, he advocated women&#8217;s rights and conceived of love ties on the basis of emotions and drives. This \u201cLiberty boy, [&#8230;] faithful Son of Liberty\u201d<a href=\"#_edn7\" name=\"_ednref7\">[7]<\/a>, asserts that \u201cthose who restrain desire, do so because theirs is weak enough to be restrained\u201d<a href=\"#_edn8\" name=\"_ednref8\">[8]<\/a>. His masters: D\u00fcrer and Michelangelo.<\/p>\n<p>An avid scholar of the Old and New Testaments, Blake abhorred the moralism of the Church: \u201cPrisons are built with stones of Law, Brothels with bricks of Religion\u201d<a href=\"#_edn9\" name=\"_ednref9\">[9]<\/a>. His God is Satan, more an evil torturer than a killer. A jealous God who abandons: \u201cNo father was there\u201d<a href=\"#_edn10\" name=\"_ednref10\">[10]<\/a> \u2013\u00a0and whose works and names he traces. Urizen is thus one of the names of the \u201cdivine architect\u201d; a name with various etymological hypotheses: your reason; horizon, from the Greek<em> horizein<\/em>, bound or limit: \u201cEnergy is the only life and is from the Body and Reason is the bound or outward circumference of Energy\u201d<a href=\"#_edn11\" name=\"_ednref11\">[11]<\/a>. This is Blake\u2019s cyclical vision of existence, where the shadows of generative Experience encumber luminous innocence and where human reality is an apocalyptic union between infinities and contraries, of which God is the unity.<\/p>\n<p>As a poet and engraver, he splices together writing and drawing in an equilibrium between the word and the image. He does not represent what he sees, but he represents \u201cwith, not <em>through, the eye\u201d<\/em> as a result of terrifying visions since he was a child. \u201cHis faculty of seeing, or rather his inability to see anything earthly except as a symbol of a spiritual reality, would have [a] hereditary explanation\u201d<a href=\"#_edn12\" name=\"_ednref12\">[12]<\/a> the visionary nature of the Celtic grandmother. His brother Robert also contributed to this. In death he speaks to him at night. He is indebted to him in his metaphysics: \u201cI hear his advice and even now I write down what he tells me\u201d<a href=\"#_edn13\" name=\"_ednref13\">[13]<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>To nobodaddy. A babbonemo<\/em><a href=\"#_edn14\" name=\"_ednref14\">[14]<\/a>, as translated (in Italian) by Ungaretti, who dedicated \u201cseven lustres\u201d to Blake, and who, quoting Eliot, says: \u201cBlake&#8217;s poetry has the unpleasantness of great poetry\u201d<a href=\"#_edn15\" name=\"_ednref15\">[15]<\/a>. Unrivalled as to the \u201cmiracle of the word\u201d, Blake not only sets himself against the philosophy and empirical science of Newton and Locke but subverts established language with neologisms and puns. Nobodaddy appears more than once in his work: in <em>The Little Boy Lost<\/em>, <em>The Little Boy Found<\/em>, in the <em>Songs of Innocence and Experience<\/em>, and in the Rossetti Manuscript, his notebooks: \u201cThen old <em>Nobodaddy<\/em> aloft Farted and belched and coughed. And said \u2018I love hanging and drawing and quartering, Every bit as well as war and slaughtering\u2019\u201d<a href=\"#_edn16\" name=\"_ednref16\">[16]<\/a>. Blake also makes numerous references to biblical text<a href=\"#_edn17\" name=\"_ednref17\">[17]<\/a>: For example, Job 26:11: \u201cThe pillars of the heavens quake, aghast at his rebuke\u201d. Revelation 6:12: \u201cI watched as he opened the sixth seal.the whole moon turned blood red\u201d. Revelation 9:2: \u201cWhen he opened the Abyss\u201d\u2026 Revelation 9:11: \u201cthe angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer)\u201d<a href=\"#_edn18\" name=\"_ednref18\">[18]<\/a>. Abadd\u00f2n becomes Nobadada&#8230; and in the end: Nobodaddy.<\/p>\n<p>On 12 October 1968, Lacan states: \u201cthe scar, left behind by the father\u2019s disappearance under the heading and general notion of <em>segregation<\/em> [&#8230;] characterises our century [&#8230;] that only manages to generate more and more barriers\u201d<a href=\"#_edn19\" name=\"_ednref19\">[19]<\/a>. The clinic confronts us today with such a scar. A mother points out a star to her child as performing the function of the father: it is too complicated to explain to the child that a cryopreserved spermatozoon has migrated into the ovary. An unprecedented real in the face of which, even if not-all must be left to science, we set ourselves up as repositories of knowledge, as fathers or godfathers, but \u201cdocile\u201d to the possible versions of <em>daddy<\/em>, <em>a daddy nobody<\/em>, without a body. A wager, provided we know that \u201cnous n&#8217;avons plus aucune esp\u00e8ce d&#8217;id\u00e9e, de ce qui pour nous tracerait la voie du Bien\u201d<a href=\"#_edn20\" name=\"_ednref20\">[20]<\/a>, and that the<em> patria<\/em> is to be invented sin<em>th<\/em>omatically.<\/p>\n<p>Blake is not a contemporary.
